"Scraping Tartar… A Step You Shouldn't Overlook or Put Off"
"I'll do it later..." is a phrase many people use when it comes to scraping tartar, often waiting until they experience tooth pain or bleeding before seeing a dentist.
But in reality, tartar is an accumulation of bacteria and plaque that has hardened to the point where regular brushing can no longer remove it.
If left untreated for a long time, it can lead to:
- Inflamed, swollen, or easily bleeding gums while brushing
- hronic bad breath that lowers your confidence
- Severe periodontitis (gum disease), which can eventually cause teeth to loosen or require extraction
Dentists generally recommend having a check-up and scraping tartar every 6 months, or at least once a year, depending on each individual's oral health condition.
